What is the biggest failure I've encountered to date? What did I learn from it?

I would say my latest failure recently was when I applied for a all-women collegiate group for a famous annual jazz conference. It would give you the opportuinity to travel and perform there ; and make connections in the jazz world. I worked really hard on all of the audition materials. I practiced all of my songs, and I got the band together to record them - which you can imagine was a lot of work. The recording session took about an hour and a half. I had help from my professor too. I sent all of the materials in, and thought I would be successful. I found out I wasnt on the roster when it came out. I was so bummed out. Of course I felt down at first, and thought it was something I did... maybe. So what I did was email the team who sent the roster results and asked if they had any advice on my performance. When the reviews came out, they gave me advice on very small details, and they complimented me and say they enjoyed my performance. But what I learned from it was that I wasn't what they were looking for at the time, and after a while I didn't let me get me down. I think whenever you fail, it's not as personal as you think. After I processed, I realized that everybody fails - they just don't talk about it, and usually it isn't because of their merit alone. I was glad I went for it, because you have 100% of failure if you don't even try. I am proud of myself in hindsight and I will try it again next year, maybe I will be what they're looking for next year. Maybe I will try for something brand new too. You know, the thing about failure is that you never know where you are going to be once the event happens. Maybe not everyone does - but I believe that everything happens for a reason.
